It’s Wicked meet La La Land in a magical arctic universe featuring musical wolves and other animals. Here’s a preview for an animated feature film I’m working on called Blue Moon.
Drawing inspiration from the jazz standard “Blue Moon”, as popularized by Billie Holiday, I have crafted a story about personal goals, friendship and diversity with anthropomorphic animals. While this is part of my final project for my Children and Media class at the The New School – wonderfully taught by writer and creator P.G. Kain – I plan on finishing it and adding it to my portfolio. Also included is a short demo of one of the original songs used for the screenplay.
Feel free to take a look at the illustrated treatment with plot synopsis, character profiles, early concept art and the first few pages of the script.

*Claps* I enjoyed reading the piece! Wonderful world you’ve made too. Will Issa be someone to look out for? I like you already tied up the story title, the city’s name and the song all at once. This will keep it in the mind of audience. I love how you worked out silvertuner! 😀

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks heaps, Raine. Issa is the Elphaba type who will give Massie a run for her money. It was originally going to be wintertuner but then silvertuner would sound more season-free. 😀

Wow, Jules! I love what you did here! The character profiles, motives etc, everything all clicked in place as you created Blue Moon and it didn’t occur to me the germ of the idea came from this “Once in a blue moon” idiom. How wonderfully alive it was to read it on page. I was looking for the demo of the song “Wonder.” but I couldn’t find the link. I’ll wait once it’s ready.
