“Sleigh Ride” Postmodern Jukebox Style

Fresh off their Christmas special on YouTube, Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox presents a brand new jazz version of “Sleigh Ride” starring Demi Remick. She’s cheery, delightful, whimsical, playful, and a superbly entertaining tap dancer. You could literally watch her for hours. Plus Scott’s piano playing is always grand.

If you’re looking for a little extra holiday cheer, this lovely video makes a joyous watch, and the song itself is worth adding to your Christmas playlist on iTunes.

Come on, it’s lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with PMJ!

Extra Holiday Decor Ideas

Christmas is one week away, and your days must be packed with festive holiday events at restaurants, school, the office, friends’ and families’ houses, and even at your own place. Be it for a celebration or your own personal comfort, a Christmas tree at home complete with decorations can easily bring you that magical holiday vibe. Going simple or all-out is completely up to you. Finished your decorations already? That’s lovely. If you’re still in need of more holiday decors, though, here are some extra ideas you can use for an even more jolly Christmas:

Holiday Records
Got a few holiday albums in your music collection? Your favorite Christmas CDs and vinyls have festive cover arts. Why not place them on a table inside your living room or bedroom to add a bit of a musical flair to your decorations? Once your merry guests stop by for a holiday dinner, that could spark up conversations about all the great Christmas records out there. You can then play some albums on your record player as the soundtrack to your party. Have a holly jolly Christmas!

Shopping Bags and Gift Packages
Been doing lots of Christmas shopping at various Christmas shops and the malls? Your items must have been placed into holiday-themed shopping bags. With illustrations and graphics that pop, those bags look way too festive to be stashed inside your wardrobe. They would make great extra decor materials and can be hung on the wall or displayed at any corner of your home. If you have also collected gifts from family, friends and colleagues, the packages and boxes can also be stored underneath the Christmas tree to add some merriment to your home.

Christmas Cards
All the greeting cards and postcards you’ve received from friends and family members are worthy of being displayed. Adorn your living room with those wonderful cards full of warm wishes for the holiday season.

Magazine Advertisements
Ads get the glam treatment when it comes to the holidays. They look super glossy and inviting. With high quality photography and silver, green and red backgrounds, these promos can be treated as posters. Feel free to rip them out of a print magazine that you own, frame them and put them up on the wall.

Holiday Printouts
Google some Christmas photos and art, from a whimsical snowman to the North Pole. Found a number of favorites? Print them out, and get ready to plaster them along your bedroom wall to add some December magic. Turning them into a collage full of holiday pictures is also doable.

May these ideas give you something extra to be joyous about. Feel free to think up more decorating ideas. Happy holidays! 🙂

Starbucks Christmas Drinks in Jakarta 2017

It’s always a delicious holiday season at Starbucks, for their starry Christmas drinks make super festive treats. Over in Jakarta, Starbucks presents four toasty beverages to jazz up your Christmas, and they can be enjoyed as both a latte and a frappuccino.

  • Toffee Nut Crunch
Fans of toffee nut and caramel can delight in this nutty holiday drink. It’s not too sugary so it tastes just right.

  • Vanilla Nougat
I did not have high expectations prior to trying out this beverage – mainly ’cause nougats aren’t really my thing – but the vanilla nougat latte got me addicted. The warm vanilla tone and aroma can instantly transport you to Winter Wonderland.

  • Mocha Praline
Perfect for mocha and chocolate lovers. A cup of mocha spiraled with chocolate sauce on the top is bound to entertain your tongue. While the toffee nut crunch and vanilla nougat are only available at a select number of Starbucks now, the mocha praline is here to stay.

  • Holiday Tree Dark Mocha
Inspired by a classic Christmas tree, this is one unique dark mocha. It’s designed as a mocha drink with a fresh green tea whipped cream. Such a whimsical look!

So what’s your Starbucks Christmas vibe for today? Are you feeling a little latte or frappe?

“Someday at Christmas” by Jackie Evancho is a Delicious Holiday Truffle for the Ears

Another holiday season, another Christmas album from the young and gifted classical songstress Jackie Evancho. With an elegant, cinematic orchestration and pure display of vocals in every track, this is one record worth collecting. Someday at Christmas is like a musical painting that’s full of grandeur yet very sincere in capturing the essence of Christmas and in igniting a spark of hope for the world.

Not only it makes a perfect companion for a festive holiday dinner with family and friends. It also serves as a delicious holiday chocolate truffle for the ears. I applaud Miss Evancho for a very inspired selection of songs to record and the classical greats in all the duets, such as Placido Domingo and Il Volo. They add to the divine quality of Someday at Christmas.

TRACK LIST

  1. “Someday At Christmas”
Serving as the title track, this is one tune the world needs. Powerful lyrics with an imagined vision of the future – a future we all crave for.
  2. “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
The cinematic intro paves a path to a very fine song. She really gets into the storytelling aspect.
  3. “Guardian Angels” (featuring Placido Domingo)
A very exquisite duet. This song is the Truth.
  4. “Little Drummer Boy”
Definitely a one-of-a-kind version of this popular song. She gives it a fresh energy.
  5. “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”
Probably one of my top faves from the record. I enjoy Christmas albums that have “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” on the list, and Jackie is doing this whimsical tune justice.
  6. “Pie Jesu” (from Requiem – featuring Placido Domingo)
    What a fine duet. Respect!
  7. “Christmas Waltz”
She delivers the tune in an imaginative way, and it definitely feels like a magical post-dinner holiday waltz, and all the guests, reindeers and sugarplum fairies are watching.
  8. “Hallelujah” (featuring Peter Hollens)
The Leonard Cohen hit is definitely perfect for Christmas.
  9. “The Christmas Song” (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)
A fresh new take on a holiday classic. Feel the warmth in this song.
  10. “O Holy Night” (featuring Vittorio Grigolo)
Simply divine. That’s all I can say.
  11. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”
It’s like a personal letter from Jackie to all of us this holiday season.
  12. “Little Drummer Boy” (featuring Il Volo)
Two times a charm. Love the call-and-response bits in the verses that are followed by a vocal unison in the chorus.
